NIC INDORE PROFILE (Last Updated 4th May 2007)

Infrastructure

NIC has always strived to adopt state of the art technology for Government Needs. To quote from NIC quality policy -

"NIC is committed to meet and exceed customer requirements by providing quality and reliable ICT services and Global Solutions. For this we shall continually improve our processes through a team of competant professionals, adoption of Appropriate Technologies, use of International standards and Best Practices."
  • Keeping in view NIC's Quality Policy, IT equipments are periodically identified for obsolescence and Districts keep getting upgraded Infrastructure - Hardware, Software and New Networking Technology.
  • In the past NIC Indore had predominant Unix Based Setup with GIST/Bilingual/Dumb Terminals ; C-200 MES, IPA VSAT ; LTS , X.25 PAD for communication and networking. Gradually NIC has moved towards Window/GUI based technology and now these equipments are no longer used ; Client/Server based technology has been adopted for Applications. Direc Way and SCPC DAMA VSAT has been added at NIC Indore.
  • District Administration has also provided some IT infrastructure to NIC Indore from time to time which has also helped NIC Indore immensely during peak workloads.
Following infrastructure is presently being used at NIC Indore -
NIC Indore comprises of 5 main units spread in 1280 Sq. Feet of Area
Unit 1 : Terminal Room 20' x 22' x 12' = 440 Sq. Feet Area.
Unit 2 : Server Room 20' x 10' x 10' (With False Ceiling done by Administration) = 200 Sq. Feet Area.
Unit 3 : House Control Unit and some clients 20' x 10' x 10' (With False Cieling) = 200 Sq. Feet Area.
Unit 4 : Video Conferencing Studio 20' x 12' x 10' (With False Cieling) = 240 Sq. Feet Area.
Unit 5 : Provision for accomodating extra participants and 2nd TV set 20' x 10' x 10' (With False Cieling) = 200 Sq. Feet Area.
